Cardano is a blockchain and cryptocurrency project with a special focus on smart contracts and decentralized apps (DApps). If this reminds you of Ethereum, you are on the right track as Charles Hoskinson, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, is also part of the Cardano team. Cardano has set itself the goal of overcoming the problems of previous blockchain platforms and of providing features superior to those on previous platforms.
The confidence to achieve this is based on the scientific approach in the development of the platform to which Cardano is committed. Specifically, the platform should be particularly suitable for applications in the area of financial services. This aspect, Cardano has in common with Ripple and Stellar, i.e. with two projects that are primarily dedicated to the development of payment systems.
Similar to other projects/currencies, there are many examples of the “cryptocurrency Cardano”, but it is more accurate to speak of Cardano as the platform, while the cryptocurrency used on the platform is called ADA.

If you want to stay up to date about this, you can visit the Coinbase website or keep an eye on the Coinbase Twitter feed.
Can I buy Cardano at Binance?
Binance is a pure cryptocurrency exchange where you cannot trade fiat currencies such as the Euro or USD. However, it is possible to exchange other crypto currencies for ADA on Binance. If you already have a Binance account with either Bitcoin or Ethereum, you can trade them directly for ADA. Otherwise, Bitcoin or Ethereum can be transferred from another account or wallet to your Binance account and then be traded for Cardano/ADA on the Binance platform. Currently, Binance does not offer transferring ADA directly from its own platform to another account or wallet. You have to convert back your ADA first into Bitcoin or Ethereum in order to enable a transfer.
